Never had problems with the 7100 HD Plus (generally had good reviews, unlike the 7100), but I started getting "scrambled service" recently on all channels, & thought it was an antenna fail.
Connected antenna to the TV, no problem, great signal.
So both tuners appeared to have failed.
Does anyone know if it's possible to do a "home" repair? Don't want to take it to a technician, it's too old (approx 7 years), too expensive, not worth it, I'll ditch the PVR and go to Flex.

Probably not a hardware problem; firmware glitch or corruption of settings. See the discussion of this issue on the oztoppy wiki. You could try an abundant caution reset to factory settings - reset to factory settings, power down the Toppy. Then disconnect from the power point and wait 5 minutes. Reconnect the power, power-up the Toppy, do another reset to factory settings, power down the Toppy then power it up again, then do service scan and customise your settings.

Thanks so much for the super-quick reply Ian! I was going to try a firmware update, but couldn't find one. (Assume that I would have to do that via USB, or run an ethernet cable to the Lan connection)
I'll try what you suggested, cheers, Mike

Hi Ian,
FIXED, thanks so much!
I just re-set it to factory settings, powered off (on the unit, didn't unplug), turned back on & did the service scan, all good!!
Cheers

Hi Mike

Glad that you managed to sort out the problem. It can be very annoying.

If you need to update/reinstall the firmware you can download it via the oztoppy wiki firmware page. The latest firmware for the 7100+ is rather ancient (was not updated for the MEPG4 file navigation bug - although I do not recall having problems in recent times).

Well actually, the latest firmware available from that link for the 7100+ shows the 29-Jan-2016 firmware which does fix the MPEG4 issue and is well proven. The only consideration is that you would lose ICETV (and gain Topfield IR instead) but if you don't use ICE then it is a no-brainer to upgrade.

That firmware (2.16.00) is the 7170 firmware repackaged for the 7100+ - does not have IceTV.
