Very strange problem. I was turning on the unit on Friday, changed my mind and turned it off. When I came back a few hours later, the front display shows nothing when the unit in on and working and the power button doesn't glow.

When the unit is off, the red power is glowing.

When the unit is turning off, you can see "wait" (I think that's what it was) on the display so I know it isn't faulty.

What on earth could I have pressed to do this? I can't find anything in setup to change this behaviour.

Scratching my head here.

Check the settings. It is possible that somehow they have change so that nothing is displayed when the Toppy is put to sleep. Not sure if the setting is on the 8800, but for Linux Toppys you need to do Menu > Settings > Front Display and select Brightness in Standby Mode. That does not seem to be the correct setting as it is concerned with brightness, not off/on. Could it be changing standby mode from Passive to Active under Miscellaneous?

You won't believe this but today, it fixed itself. I spent an hour or more yesterday going through all settings and nothing worked.

But now, it works. Weird stuff.

You are not kidding. Somehow, the time offset for day and date went missing (I suspect a reset due to corrupt files, maybe) and nothing was recording right. I didn't realise that was the problem until my wife and I were playing with the settings one day. Whew!

Excitement reigns supreme with toppies.
