Dazzla

Looks like a bit of confusion here. I am still completely confused. However, if you are watching a thread you will be notified when anyone comments on it. The email is automatically generated (without any input from me or any other person).

I think I will go an hide under a rock .................

Thanks Ian, don't go to any trouble on my account, recording to USB is no big deal to me, especially as you've explained how to replace the hard drives on these. I'll leave things as they are unless you recommend otherwise. Thanks again. [smile][biggrin]

Ewan, you will get much more out of the 5000 if we can get the 7160 firmware running on it. I am flat out at the moment but I may be able to repackage the firmware early next week.

I've just acquired another TRF-7160. Unfortunately it has "the other Firmware" 32027, I have the 33021 for my old PVR, which I'll now have refurbished, does anyone have a copy of the January 2016 Firmware 32027 that they could e-mail me, or point me to a working link?

Thanks to whoever sent the Dropbox link. All of the links I tried (In the last couple of days), were dead.

Hmmm, tried to install that and another from the Google site, got the same message, "System Mismatch". I'm not well enough to keep playing, I might send this player off to be refurbed.

The firmware file should include the system ID; with the 7160 and 7100+ there are two different models - need to make sure you get the correct one.

Hi Ian

I have the same problem with my Toppro 5000 as ozdenis did with his 7160, and might try installing the 7160 firmware if you have the time now to sort it for me. Many thanks, Dennis

His Dennis, I have sent you an email with Dropbox download links. I suggest you do a reset to factory setting before installing the firmware.

A million thanks for your efforts, Ian.

I actually got it going again by swapping back in the original hard drive (long story that I won't bore you with). This box seems to have a jinx, but one problem I've not noticed yet is spontaneous rebooting, so I'll hold off on the new firmware until things get desperate. But no doubt I'll have a need for it some time in the future so I've downloaded them all for a rainy day.

We really appreciate all your efforts to help out [smile]

Thanks, Ian for the collection of firmware.

My problem is a broken remote - the Up arrow doesn't work.
Overcame this limitation by just going downward and eventually it reached the right selection.
However with update firmware, HAD to use the Up arrow to select USB update.
Copied the firmware to my external portable drive when the firmware is among all the other files, used the Down arrow to reach the firmware file.

Hi Wolfgang,

Welcome to the forum.  Ian is on holidays at the moment, so the rest of us will have to muddle through.

Firstly, can you tell us what model of PVR you have and what kind of remote control came with it?  Topfield has various remote control models that do/don't work with various PVRs, so we need to start there.  You can find a list of remote controls with links to photos here: http://oztoppy.wikidot.com/rcu

You may be able to find a second-hand remote control for your PVR, or perhaps find a Harmony universal remote that supports your PVR.

There are also 2 TAPs that can provide you with remote control functionality that will allow you to generate an 'Up' key.  These TAPs are TMSRemote and WebControl.  You will need to have your PVR connected to your home network and have a PC/Mac/SmartPhone/Tablet available for this solution to work.
