I don't know what is going on or how to fix this.

Lately, whenever I press channel up or down several times to populate the epg, it crashes. The epg hardly ever populates by itself so I have to do this.

If I fast forward through a film and it hits the end, it crashes.

If I stop a recorded film from playing, it crashes.

Sometimes it crashes by itself when it is recording and nobody is using the remote.

So many recordings have been mangled lately am I am expecting it to get worse now by the current behaviour.

We did a total factory reset on the unit a month ago because of crashes but it has never been this bad before.

Did I get a dud unit? Surely I can't be that unlucky. Can't take much more of this.

You can avoid having to do this by using a series of play timers which will allow the Toppy to populate the EPG. I have used it successfully on Android based Toppys such as the 6211 and the 8800.

Not sure why you are seeing this happen; it may be that the Toppy is getting overwhelmed by trying to update EPG data. You only need to 'activate' one LCN on each network. I usually use the HD channel.

I don't know how to do that Ian and at any rate, it should not crash when doing it. And then there are all the other crashes. I am overwhelmed myself by all this and don't know what to do next. Getting too old to cope.

Hi Fangles. I have no experience with the toppy model you have. I wonder if some user data is causing the problem? I wonder if a factory reset actually removes the user data or leaves it there. Can you remove all the apps that you have installed and try the factory reset again? My thinking is to make it the same as the day you took it out of the box. There’s no point in getting yourself worked up over this. Maybe you got a dud unit and it has a hardware error that you’ll never be able to fix. It could be time to start looking for a new PVR. Good luck with it.

You go into the part of the Toppy that allows you to manually set timers. You then select a service and select view rather than record, then set the timer for every day, and set if for 5 minutes or so. You do this for one channel on each network. I works in much the same way on all Toppys.
