TAP support? Networking? .mpg or .rec?

Does anybody have an opinion?

From what I could gather from the carton on the auction www site the features are similar to an Android based European model - Netflix + web browser; no mention of TAP support. Hopefully Topfield have not developed yet another recording format. I suspect it would be similar to that used by the TF-T6211 (which uses *.rec).

I purchased one a few days ago (3rd Toppy PVR).
Installed and working.
Has LAN and WiFi built-in.
The PVR side seems to work nicely.
Same problem as Steptoe with Netflix install - unresolved UK IP address.
Have managed to find my way into the Android side of it and tried to install netflix from there byt wouldn't show this device in my Google Play devices.
Tried to set my Google account into the android side, but no success (haven't yet tried a manual setup).
Google reported a sign-in from iPad (Safari Browser)??
and a sign-in attempt from Android device.
Maybe this is not a registered Android device?? (Had that problem with a very early Android tablet - Device was not recognised by Google and therefore would not allow me to install apps.)

I suspect these are pre-production units intended for beta testing - there were only about 10 sold at the liquidators sale. This explains the absence of a manual. Why they are still usining such an old version of android escapes me. Same version (I think) as on the TF-T6211.

Was able to get the YouTube app running after closing an overlay screen. Pressed OK after finding the * is a mouse mode button and using the arrows to move.

YouTube reports an update being available. Selecting it takes you round in circles, as it's probably trying to open Google Play App.

Inside:

HDD is a 2TB Western digital WD20EURX
WiFi Antenna is plugged into an internal USB port. 2 other USB ports unused and inaccessible (behind the HDMI out socket)
Mainboard is labelled TF-D6200HDPVR Rev 1.2 P000-D62HD-412-0 (Date 2015.05.20)
On board appears to be some unused areas behind Smartcard slot and CI Module slots

So looks like a cut down of the TF-6200HD

That is more or less what I expected.

Out of interest, the RCU shown in that link is one I have not seen before; does it have a model number on it anywhere. If you have any other Toppys, does it also work with them? Current generation Toppys that I am aware of support:

Mode 5/Mode 6 = 2400/2460/5300/5310/5320
Mode 1/Mode 6 = 7260
Mode 1 = 7160, 7170
Mode 4/Mode 6 = 2200

Information on RCUs can be found on the oztoppy wiki.

The remote supplied appears to be the same as the one for the 53x0 (TP850) as pictured here.

Hi... Is there any manuals available for the TRF-8800HD?

The 8800 was never officially released - the one sold by the liquidator seem to be preproduction uints. So, no manual. There is a similar European model, so the manual for that may help.

Thanks Ian for your reply. Can you provide the link to download the manual of the European model?

Best regards,
Ayman

Had a feeling that I had some information in English; the model I was thinkingt of is the TF6200HD which is apparently designed for Finaland. I found a copy of the manual which you can get from here.

I bought this one specifically because I wanted Netflix.
It won't download from the Topfield server, so I tried to download Netflix from the Android play store.
Wouldn't let me donwload, so I managed to set up the email function for my Gmail.
Google play tells me it has a logon from an iPad - Safari browser.
When I try to install any app, it shows me all my other android devices, but won't show me the Topfield, I guess because it is seeing it as an iPad.
Won't even let me download another browser.
[confused]
