If it's for transferring recordings go with NTFS as FAT32 does not allow you to store files bigger than 4GB and you'll pobably have some recording files that exceed that.
NTFS should be fine for TAP loading of you're not using FTP.

To install a firmware update via bricked Toppy procedure the USB stick has to be FAT 32 (this is so for most types of devices). For recordings NTFS is best, and for Linux based systems JFS is usually supported. File support for Toppys (not updated for 8800 and 2200) is discussed on the oztoppy wiki.

Thanks mykear and Ian, [smile] just wanted to be sure I cannot get MKV Or anything to Play inside the  > DivX Play AVI MP4 MKV > Via the Main Toppy Menu > Alternative Compilation DivX > Media > Create Code Or Delete Code > ? Using a USB (NTFS)

I must be doing something wrong apart from the fact that I just read here that that's where you are able or supposed to Play Media AVI MP4 (MKV) from a USB? I have asked several times over the Year's and the forum always answers that "yes" Toppy will play MKV and I could never figure out why mine wouldn't? So I have been Converting all my stuff to Mp4 or AVI first [rolleyes][crazy]

Regards and thanks Dazzla

MKV is a container, as well as supporting the contain the payback device must also support the sound and video codecs that are used. That is why there is not a simple answer. What codec are used by the particular MKV files. You can use the fee MediInfor app to find out the codec used.

TMS Toppys have build in support for divX, although it has not been updated for many years. Not sure what version is supported, it may be in the manual.

I think the CD has the driver for the windows operating system on your computer.
It is only needed if you use/connect that dongle on/to your computer.

That is: the CD has no purpose if you just stick the dongle in your Toppy.

The driver for the dongle is included in the Toppy firmware. The CD is only for when you use the dongle on a computer.

Good-morning Ian[wave] thanks for that" One more inquiry if I may? I have Downloaded "MeadiaInfo" but I don't know how I can identify the Format or Cage?  How do I Install that Codec into Toppy so it can Play MKV and Or How do I use the codac so I can replace the MKV Codec rather than using video a conversion program that Takes forever?

Nearly everything these Days appears to be in the MKV format any help please   Cheers Dazzla[biggrin]

The program is mediainfo:
It parses the media file for information and will tell you about its container, the video/audio codecs used and info on subtitles, menu's etc.

Matroska is a container - usually expressed on the file by the extension "MKV" (the V being for video).

Toppy firmware provides some support for media files - IanL-S probably can provide details of what toppy supports what containers and codecs.

If the container is not supported by the toppy then you need to remux the various tracks (audio, video, subs etc) into a supported container (lossless and quick to process!).

If a codec is not supported by the toppy then you need to recode that track with a video editor (like the free Avidemux!) (lossy and slow to process)
